Sfeir-Semler Gallery Beirut is very pleased to invite you to its new show Less Roses curated by the German artist, Elger Esser : “ Less Roses is an odd title for an exhibition; as odd and difficult as it is to curate a show in Lebanon, a country that is constantly revisited by political turmoil. This show is not a political statement, it is about art that speaks for itself. Can art represent without the temptation of embellishment? Art can be subversive without being politically correct . In the Title “ Less Roses “ Less expresses the danger of disappearance…but also less can be a sign of concentration on quality…Roses: Flowers are a symbol of natural beauty …“ E.E. Elger Esser invited artists and friends to join him in this adventure. All of them made new works for the Beirut show, Elger Esser and Felix Schramm came to Beirut and are making on site works :

  • Sunday September 30, 2007: Autumn colors in Ehden Cedar Reserve

    • Regions: Ehden Cedar Reserve

    • Highlights:

      • Wild trails

      • Spectacular landscapes

    • Level: 2 levels:

      • Medium: ~5 hours at slow pace

      • Easy: ~4 hours, few uphill, slow pace

    • Gathering time: 09:00

    • Price:

      • $20: Early booking before Friday 7pm

      • $25: Normal price

      • Price includes: transportation, guides & local guides, Reserve entrance fees

    • Notes:

      • The program may be changed in case of unexpected events (weather, political, ...)

  • Sunday September 30, 2007: Walking, canoeing & "Dolce Far Niente" in the Palm Islands

    • Regions: Palm Islands, Tripoli

    • Highlights:

      • Crystal-clear water

      • White sandy beach

      • Canoeing around the island

      • If lucky, sea turtles & flying fish (already happened many times)

      • Panoramic landscapes on the Makmel mountains

    • Level:

      • Well... get on the boat, get off the boat, lay on the sand, put your feet in the water.

    • Gathering time: 09:30

    • Price:

      • $16: Early booking before Friday 7pm

      • $21: Normal price

      • Price includes: transportation, guides, boat, canoes.

    • Notes:

      • No facilities on the island (showers, toilets, tents, restaurants, ...)

      • The program may be changed in case of external events (bad sea, bad weather, political events...). It would be replaced by a cultural tour with seafood lunch by the sea.

      • Will be repeated every Sunday between September 30 & October 21

فيلم وثائقي لهادي زكاك:” اصداء شيعية من لبنان”

يعرض في الساعة الثامنة مساء الإثنين 24 أيلول (سبتمبر) 2007 في قصر الأونيسكو الشريط الوثائقي “الشيعة أصداء من لبنان” كتابة هادي زكاك وإخراجه. المنتج المنفذ جيري موزير.

الفيلم من 52 دقيقة، ويتناول عبر مقابلات مع سياسيين ومواطنين عاديين الأوضاع اللبنانية كما يراها الناس من منظار الطوائف. البداية هذه المرة مع الشيعة وسيليها جزءان آخران، واحد عن السنة وآخر عن المسيحيين.
